Term: Annual
Hiring Type: Contractor
Compensation: $40,000.00 (including HST)
Report to: Board of Directors
Hours: 20-37.5 hours per week: Primarily weekdays with some weekend work required.
Location: Primary Toronto, with work in Peel and Durham regions

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Production of an immersive financial literacy program, specifically targeting Black mothers
Our project is tasked with the following outcomes:
● Strengthen the Black Community’s relationship with money and foster financial literacy.
● Enhance Black mother’s ability to navigate financial systems
● Prevent Black mothers and their families from being trapped in a generational cycle of living in low-income areas with under-resourced schools
● Strengthen the financial health and literacy of Black mothers
● Increase the confidence and awareness of Black mother’s ability to seek financial
supports
● Help Black mothers facing system racial barriers better access financial support and system
ORGANIZATION
Black Moms Connection is a global online village and incorporated non-profit providing culturally relevant tools and resources to empower and educate the Black woman. By encouraging mothers to increase the social, emotional, financial, and well-being of the Black family– we will positively impact that Black community and the world at large.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIORITY
● Overall management of the project including administrative and financial reporting;
● Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the FinLit Program
DEVELOPMENT
● Develop a detailed work plan designed to achieve project deliverables
● Coordinate planning and implementation activities with all relevant parties
● Develop and execute marketing and sponsorship strategies for existing programs.
● Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders including
volunteers, sponsors, outreach organizations, government, and academia.
● Develop, streamline, and maintain efficient and effective business procedures.
● Liaise and collaborate with external groups/agencies, strengthen and build partnerships with other organizations aimed at fostering the development of collaborative projects.
● Able to synthesize information for the purposes of communication on complex issues, ideas and needs to a variety of stakeholders in appropriate formats
● Trusting relationship building with diverse groups that reflects values and needs the organization as well as those of various stakeholders
● Ability to synthesize related research and best practices into clear communications
● Skilled at leading stakeholder consultations and related event planning, with knowledge
of conducting virtual multi-stakeholder events considered an asset.
● Experience developing and administering project budgets
● Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders
MANAGEMENT
● Manage recruitment and consultations of project contractors on deliverables and
activities
● Provide leadership in the articulation and implementation of SFF BC’s vision, mission,goals and objectives.
● Maintain CRM, task management and other software to ensure efficiency and
organization.
● Ensure continuous year-round planning for existing and new programs.
● Manage program staff and contractors.
● Manage the day-to-day administration of the project
REPORTING
● Prepare budgets and manage resources in alignment with project milestones and
deliverables
● Provide progress reports as required to the board and project partners
● Develop and deliver evaluation and assessment of project deliverables
● Prepare business documents and reports and written reports as required (incidents, accidents, efficiency etc.).
● Be accountable for budget management and record-keeping for reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including funders.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTE REQUIREMENTS
● Knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary concerns and issues facing the Black community;
● Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
● Experience leading teams, coaching and empowering staff, and selecting and
coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
● Excellent communication skills both oral and written
● Strong organization and prioritization skills
● Multitasking and management of competing priorities and deadlines
● High level of judgment and problem-solving skills
● Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and work with multiple deadlines
● Demonstrates initiative, work ethic, and self-motivation
● Excellent file management and record-keeping
● Be a positive team member with an open communication style;
● Ability to set clear goals
● Adhere to and when required delegate tasks and set deadlines.
● Event coordination skills
● Ability to use and set up virtual learning tools
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google suite
● Enthusiasm, commitment, and passion for BMC’s Mission to educate and empower Black mothers and their families
● Incorporated Canadian business with valid HST number
● Experience in a leadership capacity in the community-based non-profit sector
● Demonstrated comfort and familiarity with families facing financial challenges, which may have been gained through professional, volunteer, or lived experience.
● Proven experience delivery program and services from a low barrier, trauma-informed, harm reduction and relationship-based framework.
● A track record of managing operations, understanding of supporting and working with an anti-oppression and anti-racism framework.
● Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 12 months.
BONUS FEATURES
● Knowledge of leadership and management principles and practices;
● Bilingualism is an asset.
● Valid Driver’s License and regular access to a working vehicle (travel within the GTA)
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
● A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation
● Post-secondary degree in related discipline OR equivalent combination of education and experience
● Relevant experience working or volunteering with Black, Indigenous or racialized,
groups, or organizations is an asset;
