KCA CAREERS, EDUCATION AND RESEARCH PROGRAM DIRECTOR – OPEN VOLUNTARY POSITION

Kenyan Canadian Association - KCA is looking for an enthusiastic community-focused person to join our vibrant team as Careers, Education and Research Program Director.

KCA is a federal not-for-profit organization that seeks to address the issues affecting marginalized Canadians especially those of Kenyan origin, the black communities and visible minorities while assisting newcomers to settle and make a positive contribution in the society as they endeavor to achieve their goals.

KCA also focuses on implementing programs and specifically offering services to newcomers, low-income families, visible minorities and socially-excluded groups residing in Canada to improve their personal well-being and social-economic status.

Position Summary:
The Careers, Education and Research Program Director reports directly to the President. We are looking for a researcher, career professional and/or communicator whose education and training qualify them to:
• guide program beneficiaries on career development, job coaching and retention and summer youth work experience.
• advocate for training and employment of researchers from marginalized communities.
• seek research collaboration between and beyond the marginalized communities with special focus on the black communities.
• develop community resources to support program capacity building and beneficiaries’ goals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide periodic program reports to the Board of Directors.
• Work in collaboration with Secretariat, other Program Directors and Regional Chairs
• Recruit potential volunteers in the program committee.
• Provide career strategies and professional development guidance to program beneficiaries from varying fields, backgrounds, and experience levels.
• Organize and coordinate a variety of events in a motivational setting including career workshops, vocational training seminars, financial aid fairs, college/university tours etc
• Prepare a wide variety of informative brochures, mailers, etc. for the purpose of communicating with students, parents on community career options and opportunities!
• Organize student counseling sessions regarding career or vocational issues including career exploration and planning, resume preparation, job interview skills and job search strategies, and make available to students a wide range of educational and occupational information.
• Cultivate new and maintain current relationships with Academic community in support of Career Services initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with existing employers and establish relationships with potential employers and service agencies.

KCA SENIORS OUTREACH PROGRAM DIRECTOR – OPEN VOLUNTARY POSITION


Kenyan Canadian Association - KCA is looking for an enthusiastic community-focused person to join our vibrant team as Seniors Outreach Program Director.

KCA is a federal not-for-profit organization that seeks to address the issues affecting marginalized Canadians especially those of Kenyan origin, the black communities and visible minorities while assisting newcomers to settle and make a positive contribution in the society as they endeavor to achieve their goals.

KCA also focuses on implementing programs and specifically offering services to newcomers, low-income families, visible minorities and socially-excluded groups residing in Canada to improve their personal well-being and social-economic status.

Position Summary:
The Seniors Outreach Program Director reports directly to the President. The role will involve providing leadership and oversight of all senior-related activities that will foster physical, social and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide periodic program reports to the Board of Directors.
• Work in collaboration with Secretariat, other Program Directors and Regional Chairs
• Work to develop relationships with individuals and organizations which provide senior program participants with beneficial knowledge, skills, and access to senior-related programs and services.
• Engage with community agencies and organizations to promote seniors activities.
• Implement outreach strategies to identify isolated seniors.
• Recruit potential volunteers in the program committee.
• Identify Systemic Barriers that contribute to the social exclusion of seniors in our community.
• Write program reports, collect statistics, and maintain program-related documentation.
• Identify new funding opportunities and preparing funding proposals for seniors programming.
• Develop innovative approaches to engage and retain senior volunteers to improve their social inclusion.
• Oversee registration, maintain records, and collect data, provide ongoing evaluation reports as required by funders.
• Facilitate and implement capacity building by training and supporting volunteers as outreach volunteers.
