Call for Expressions of Interest: Regional Chairs (2026–2028 Term)

Kenyan Canadian Association (KCA), a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization established in 2019, is dedicated to implementing programs that empower racialized and marginalized communities across Canada.
We are inviting expressions of interest from Kenyans residing in Canada to serve on the Council of Regional Chairs, representing 20 regions nationwide for the term 2026–2028. Regional Chairs will serve as grassroots representatives of KCA for an initial three-year term, with the option to extend for an additional three years.

Regional Chairs will work closely with Kenyan diaspora organizations and community groups across provinces and territories in Canada.

Position Summary
The Regional Chair reports directly to the President and works in coordination with the Head of Council.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Collaborate with other Council members to develop regional work plans aligned with KCA’s mission and strategic objectives.
- Implement transformative initiatives that address community needs and foster inclusion.
Community Engagement & Event Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison for KCA programs and activities at the grassroots level.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, political leaders, community organizations, and strategic partners.
- Where applicable, plan and execute flag-raising ceremonies, commemorations, and proclamation events in collaboration with city protocol offices and local Kenyan community organizations/groups.
- Actively participate in community outreach initiatives to strengthen KCA’s presence and visibility at the grassroots level.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
- Work closely with the KCA Fundraising Team to identify and pursue local fundraising opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships that support KCA programs and events.
- Assist in organizing regional fundraising campaigns and donor engagement activities.
Project Implementation & Support
- Collaborate with Program Directors and project teams to implement KCA initiatives at the local level, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
- Monitor project progress and provide feedback to improve impact and sustainability.
Reporting & Recommendations
- Submit periodic reports and actionable recommendations (ad hoc or quarterly) ensuring timely updates on regional activities, challenges, and opportunities.
Other Duties
- Undertake additional regional initiatives as directed by the President.
