KCA Partners with Tea Board of Kenya (TBK) for B2B Engagement Meetings with Tea Stakeholders in Canada

Kenyan Canadian Association (KCA) partnered with Tea Board of Kenya (TBK) for a series of B2B engagement meetings with Tea stakeholders and visits to retail stores in Canada. The B2B engagement meetings and visits to various retail stores took place on October 1, 2022 in Ontario, Canada. The Tea Board of Kenya delegation included CEO Ms. Peris Mudida, Director representing West of Rift Valley Mr. Kennedy Kaburi, Director representing East of Rift Valley Ms. Florence Nkatha and Assistant Director Market Development & Trade Advisory Mr. David Muriuki. The team was accompanied by Kenya High Commissioner to Canada H.E. Amb. Immaculate Wambua.

1. DAVID’s TEA

DAVID’s TEA is a homegrown Canadian specialty store focusing on tea and tea accessories based in Montreal, Quebec. It is the largest Canadian-based specialty tea boutique in the country.
DAVID’s TEA sell Kenyan Tinderet Tea which is their only traditional tea in the CTC (cut, tear, curl) style, where machines cut the tea leaves into uniform pieces.
2. Metro Grocery Store

Metro Inc. is a Canadian food retailer operating in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The company is based in Montreal, Quebec with head office at 11011 Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis. Metro is the third largest grocer in Canada, after Loblaw Companies Limited and Sobeys.
There are 365 namesake locations in Ontario and Quebec. Super C is the discount supermarket division operated in Quebec with 72 stores. In Ontario, Metro has 139 discount supermarkets under the Food Basics banner, which are very similar to the Super C stores. Large Metro stores in Quebec operate under the Metro Plus name. Metro also operates 142 small groceries under the Marché Richelieu banner.

A family-owned organization, Longo's first opened its doors in Toronto in 1956 and currently has 30 stores employing over 6,000 people across the Greater Toronto Area.It has stocked a variety of Kericho Gold Specialty Tea.
4. AfriCar Food Festival

AFRI-Car Food Festival is a public event that aims to revitalize African/Caribbean culture. It is a family-friendly event featuring a variety of food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, dance workshops, fashion parades, and other activities. The event is part of multi-pronged effort to promote African-Caribbean culture, people, and community, as well as to help sustain the richness of the culture and businesses.
5. Diamant Cash n Carry

6. Shukrani Tea

Shukrani Tea is manufactured using the CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) process that meets international standards.
It is authentic Kenyan premium quality tea with deep copper colour which presents itself pleasantly with or without milk to brighten the cup to individual preference.
Shukrani Tea blending and packing is done by Maisha Commodities in Mombasa, Kenya with minimal time after receiving the tea from the factories. This ensures high quality and freshness.
